Dogs check in as VIPs at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park

Beloved pets are spoiled at the Knightsbridge hotel

The Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is taking its lead from the start of the Chinese Year of the Dog and introducing what it is calling a Pawfect Package for owners and their pups, in collaboration with luxury British dog accessories brand Teddy Maximus. An overnight stay in a superior room (from £600 a night) will see travel-weary pets greeted with Teddy Maximus indulgences, such as a sand-coloured Shetland wool cocoon bed, a Shetland wool lounging cushion and ceramic food and drink bowls. Owners will need to provide their own pet food – although Swedish Wonderboo is quite the chicest dog food and can be ordered through the concierge and sent direct to the hotel.

A Shetland wool toy bone should keep Fido happy, and a wool neckerchief looking chic. For those staying in a suite, an Otis Shetland wool and leather lead will also be gifted.

“We are delighted to partner with Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park,” says Teddy Maximus founder Holly Simpson, whose range was inspired by her dachshund, Teddy (the photoshoot star). “Pooches will be able to relax in our cosy beds and enjoy many other accessories to make their stay memorable.”

While the only issue may be the sound of dog snores reverberating throughout Knightsbridge, there is one caveat – only pets up to 9kg (20lb) can take up this package, unless of course they are a service dog, who will be royally welcomed.
