Award-winning chef begins two month residence at Maslow’s Mortimer House

The private members’ club will open to non-patrons for a dining series beginning with Elizabeth Haigh

Fitzrovia private members’ club Maslow’s Mortimer House is opening its doors to non-patrons for a series of guest chef events, which kicks off with Singapore-born Elizabeth Haigh of Kaizen House – panellist at last year’s FT Weekend Festival and winner of a coveted Michelin star while at Hackney restaurant Pidgin. Haigh’s two-month residency at the club begins on May 2, and sees her creating a dinner experience from Thursdays to Saturdays for 24 guests (by reservation only), who will dine at shared tables in the Living Room & Den on the fifth floor of the six-storey art deco establishment.

Haigh’s à la carte menu fuses British and Singaporean influences, with dishes such as beef rendang buns with fermented sambal (£8.50); buttermilk fried chicken and caviar katsu sando (£9); and udon vongole with pickled wild garlic (£10 or large, £18). For dessert, expect kaya caramel “toast” ice cream (£6.50) or pandan mousse, strawberries and meringue (£7). The chef will also offer a five-course menu priced £45 per person, and the events are set to become a lively affair on Thursday evenings, when Mortimer House’s DJ takes to the decks.
