Belmond British Pullman celebrates Afternoon Tea Week

A step back in time to honour the most English of traditions

All aboard the Belmond British Pullman train for a glorious afternoon tea in honour of Afternoon Tea Week. Departing from London Victoria on August 19, the Belmond Pullman train will make a scenic three-hour journey through the Kent countryside before returning to the Belgravia station.

Guests will be attended to by liveried stewards

The vintage carriages of the train – designed in the roaring 1920s and 1930s and restored to their former glory – set the scene for the experience, where guests will be served tea, blended for the occasion by English producer Tregothnan, and there will be a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé for every couple booking their seats (£350 per person; 226 guests over 10 carriages).

The experience is elevated by Lauren-Perrier Cuvée Rosé champagne – in celebration of its 50th anniversary – pastries by chef Claire Clark MBE and entertainment by The Spitfire Sisters

The menu will feature classic sandwich combinations, while Claire Clark MBE – former pastry chef of The Ritz, Buckingham Palace and The French Laundry – has been entrusted with the task of designing the pâtisserie specifically for the trip. These are to include such delights as pistachio macaroons, seasonal berry financiers, ruby chocolate pebbles and Eton Mess cheesecake.

Guests will be entertained on the journey by The Spitfire Sisters, an Andrews Sisters-style trio of vocalists, who will help set the mood and transport guests back to the golden age of travel with music from the 1920s to the 1940s.
