A feast of fine fragrance and fine dining

A four-course “sensory dinner” sees the House of Creed, The Notorious Cocktail and Launceston Place join forces

Chef Ben Murphy of Kensington’s Launceston Place is to form an intriguing alliance with fragrance expert Eva Carlo of the House of Creed, and mixologist Giorgio Tosato – also known as The Notorious Cocktail – to create a four-course “sensory dinner” on December 3, fusing fine fragrance and fine dining.

The evening will kick off with a welcome cocktail (priced £18.50), designed around one of four Creed fragrances, that will remain on the menu at the restaurant until December 9. Royal Princess Oud is a blend of bergamot liqueur, vanilla vodka, jasmine syrup and lemon; Green Irish Tweed is a zingy mix of vodka, peppermint, lemon verbena tea, ginger beer, lemon and angostura; Aventus for Her features bergamot liqueur, rose liqueur, apple juice, peach essence and Prosecco; and Aventus is a mix of bergamot, apple wood tea infused gin, vermouth, vanilla and jasmine essence.

Murphy, who trained under mentor Pierre Koffman and was named both Chef to Watch by The Good Food Guide and Breakthrough Chef of the Year at the Food & Travel Awards in 2016, will take the helm for the evening and each course, like the cocktails, focuses on the notes of four Creed fragrances. Green Irish Tweed is transformed into a starter of celeriac, mint and pecorino; and Royal Princess Oud is interpreted as hake, cauliflower and vanilla. This is followed by presa pork, timur and carrot, and for dessert, a dish of chocolate, bergamot and honey – inspired by Aventus for Her. Eva Carlo will guide guests through each course (priced £60 per person, plus an additional £30 for wine pairing), detailing the fragrance and notes that inspired the dishes, while Murphy will provide culinary commentary.
