Betting advice for Glorious Goodwood and the inside track on owning a racehorse, for one night only at Daphne’s

For a stake of £70, guests at Daphne’s in Chelsea on Monday July 17 can expect winnings in the form of a glass of champagne, a three-course dinner and a large serving of racing tips and stories from some of flat racing’s most authoritative and amusing characters.

The panel of experts will consist of Britain’s most decorated and successful female jockey, Hayley Turner, whose 15-year career earned horse owners £6.7m in prize money; Harry Herbert, chairman and managing director of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing and racing adviser to Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, president of Qatar’s Olympic committee; and one of the UK’s most eminent racehorse trainers, Andrew Balding of Park House Stables, Kingsclere. 

The race for equestrian knowledge will begin at 7pm with champagne and a little mingling with the panel, while dinner at 7.30pm will include tuna carpaccio with pickled radish, avocado and yuzu, and roast lamb with griddled artichokes, peas and mint.

Between the aperitif and the three courses, the experts will share their flat-racing expertise, offer advice on how to own a racehorse and provide betting tips and hints. With Glorious Goodwood just around the corner, they will also be talking sartorial advice and which horses to look out for on August 1-5.
