Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup

For the first time, 300 tickets go on sale for the Veuve Clicquot experience at the exclusive polo match

Polo and champagne go together like ponies and princes. And for the past 20 years Veuve Clicquot and Cowdray Park Polo Club Gold Cup have partnered on an invitation-only event that celebrates this happy match. But to mark this anniversary, 300 tickets to this glamorous occasion on July 20 (from £70, including a glass of Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label) are being made available to the public for the first time.

“Each year the Gold Cup is the highlight of the Veuve Clicquot season,” says Christina Jesaitis, senior brand manager for Veuve Clicquot. “Champagne is the perfect accompaniment to chic, summer sporting gatherings – and polo is the ultimate example of style."

Guests will be driven from London to West Sussex, where they will be greeted by hosts and hostesses and escorted to a yellow-themed picnic – the Champagne’s signature colour – where magnums will be served from a restored 1946 Airstream trailer.

Pre-ordered picnics include the High Goal hamper (£110 for two), created by the chefs at Scott’s and packed with delights including chorizo Scotch duck egg, burrata and lobster. Alternatively, The Mount Street Deli’s lighter offering, The Chukka (£80 for two), will have herb-roasted salmon, grilled asparagus and courgette salad – to be polished off with strawberries and cream.

A group VIP ticket for four ensures a magnum of champagne, a picnic and a dedicated butler. For those who would rather fly by the seat of their saddles, J Sheekey will be on call to grill fresh rock-shrimp-and-scallop burgers on request.

After the stomping of the divots and the Gold Cup match, a DJ will spin the disks until dusk, when the golden tickets guests will be safely returned to London.
