Conran Clinic: a chic wellbeing pop-up shop

After a rocky start, a healthy approach to 2014 begins here

The personal trainer whose calls you keep avoiding; the bodycare routine that is slowly abandoned; the alcohol units that now flow into each other: February is the month that resolutions forgot. The Conran Shop has not given up hope, however. An in-store wellbeing pop-up, the Conran Clinic, is launching at that perfect time of year when spring is near but that spare tyre is still here.

Indeed, for those who are gluttons for punishment – or still feeling like gluttons after the holidays – The Conran Shop has shipped in a series of distorting fairground mirrors. They say this is tongue-in-cheek; others may frantically suck in their cheekbones and take up running again with a nifty sprint past.

Thankfully, gym equipment from Technogym will be on sale to whip shoppers back into a home routine without any shouting from that former marine PT who plagues them on speed dial. Super-chic Aedle headphones (£300) will keep them moving to the beat as the Techogym equipment logs their every move.

A serene spa area sells bath brands such as France’s Compagnie de Provence, Switzerland’s Therme Vals and Brooklyn’s Pelle – whose soaps (from £7) look like shimmering jewels. Meanwhile, the rustic wooden Tea House will be selling every kind of leaf to take home. And with cold-pressed juices (£6.50) from The Good Life Eatery, visitors can get inspired to recalibrate the good work intended for 2014.

“Every year we always say we want to be fitter and healthier,” says Trevor Hopkins, director of creatives at The Conran Shop. “Looking beautiful and feeling healthy can still be done in a stylish and original way and the Conran Clinic will provide customers with a unique approach to discovering their healthier selves.”

The Valentine’s Day display has gift suggestions – no doubt to promote a healthy heart – that include Doug Johnson bags (from £75), Histoire de Parfums scents (£72) and Jacqueline Rayburn jewellery (from £150). As a reminder of Mother’s Day (Sunday March 30) present ideas include Suturno scarves (from £220), Carré Royal long purses (£140) and Annabelle Chan rings (from £320). But it will surely be the candles originally made for the French royal family in 1643 by Cire Trudon (£60) that will make mother feel like a queen for a day.
